Editor: Elna Cain
Contact Info: email@example.com
Topic: Anything related to freelance writing, like finding clients, making more money or strengthening writing skills. The posts are always presented as a question and answer (hence why the site is name Freelancer FAQs), so when submitting your pitch be sure it fits that mold.
Target audience: “Our content is geared towards novice and advanced freelance writers,” explains Cain. If you’re a new freelancer, you can submit a question via this link, and the Freelancer FAQs team can write a post about it.
Other perks: Your published post will have an author byline that includes a photo and links to your site and social media profiles. You can also include one or two relevant links to your own work within the post.
What kind of posts they like: If you’ve found a solution to a common problem or struggle for freelance writers, chances are it’s a good fit. For example, you might write about how to build your writing business and find higher-paying clients, break into a different type of writing, manage irregular freelance income, or work productively from home.
Examples of three posts that have done well:
- How Can I Become a Better Writer?
- How Can I Display My Freelance Writing Portfolio?
- How Can I Become More Productive as a Freelance Writer?
What you can do to help the editor say YES: “Make sure to speak to freelance writers when you’re writing,” says Cain. “Provide useful tips that new or established writers can implement in their business easily or quickly.”
She also notes that while it’s important to talk about your personal successes with your writing career, “try to focus your writing to include the reader as much as possible”.
Lead time: “Your content will be up within a week’s time,” explains Cain.
